One of the missions of the Parents' Club is to distribute scholarships to graduating WGHS seniors. Fifteen $1000 scholarships were awarded to the Class of 2020, with plans to do the same for the Class of 2021. Recently, one of our Scholarship Committee Chairpersons connected with last year’s scholarship recipients to find out about their college experiences. We were grateful to catch up with WGHS alum Jessica Peterson.
Jessica is attending the University of Missouri – Columbia. She’s currently majoring in Pre-Journalism, and considering studying Strategic Communications.
What is your favorite thing about college so far?
“I get to meet and learn from new people that have experienced my career choice firsthand. I didn’t get to really explore a traditional freshman year, but my journalism professors still made the best of it.”
What are you looking forward to this year?
“Exploring my major further and growing even more into an amazing journalist.”
How did the WGHS Parents' Club scholarship help you?
“The WGHS Parents’ Club Scholarship helped me get the confidence I needed to persue what I wanted to do my freshman year.”
