One of the missions of the Parents' Club is to distribute scholarships to graduating WGHS seniors. Fifteen $1000 scholarships were awarded to the Class of 2020, with plans to do the same for the Class of 2021. Recently, one of our Scholarship Committee Chairpersons connected with last year’s scholarship recipients to find out about their college experiences. We’re happy to be able to provide an update on Brianna Arinze with you!
Brianna is attending Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana where she’s studying pharmacy. She’s currently in Purdue’s pre-pharmacy program with hopes of applying and getting into Purdue’s pharmacy graduate school next year.
What is your favorite thing about college so far?
“I enjoy the freedom associated with college. Unlike high school, in college I am able to craft my own schedule to have lectures or labs during the time of day that I work best. This way I have time throughout the day that I can grab food or go study with friends between classes, so it is very convenient.”
What are you looking forward to this year?
“I am looking forward to continuing to meet new friends and gaining new experiences. I am also doing research this semester, so that is something that I am excited about.”
How did the WGHS Parents' Club scholarship help you?
“With the help of the WGHS’ Parents’ Club scholarship I was able to buy a new computer. This has been very beneficial for me this semester, because a majority of my classes have online components.”
